Notice of Vacancy for a Parent Representative – July 2024

Paraparaumu Beach School Board
Notice of vacancy for a parent representative

5 July 2024

Kia ora PBS whānau,

A casual vacancy has occurred on the PBS Board for an elected parent representative, as a result of the recent resignation of a trustee due to other commitments.

The Board has decided to fill this vacancy by selection.

Further information about the process is available at School Board Elections | Casual vacancies for elected board members

Please note: even though the Board wishes to fill the vacancy by selection, if 10% or more of eligible voters on the school roll ask the Board, within 28 days of this notice being published, to
hold a by-election to fill the vacancy, then a by-election will be held instead.

If fewer than 10% of eligible voters request a by-election, the Board will confirm at the end of the28-day notification period that the vacancy will be filled by a selection process. The Board will then explain how those interested in being considered for the role can apply. The Board must
select a person to be a trustee within six weeks of the end of the 28-day notification period.

The Board will be seeking a trustee in line with the criteria set out in Schedule 23 clause 1 of the Education and Training Act 2020, including that the Board reflects the ethnic and
socio-economic diversity of the student community, and the character of the community served by the school.

If you wish to request that a by-election occur, instead of a selection process, please
send a request by 2 August 2024 to:
