"Together we are lifelong CREST learners"
Principal's Message
Kia ora PBS whānau and welcome to Term 3!
It’s hard to believe we are already halfway through the school year.
Please keep reading as today’s newsletter contains information about:
- Lots of Term 3 news!
INSPIRATION WALL: We wrapped up Term 2 with a wonderful whole-school assembly under the sun, and the highlight was a special visit from former PBS student and All Blacks rugby star, Dane Coles. Dane, along with the All Blacks team, was so impressed by the way our PBS kids supported them during the last World Cup that he decided to show their gratitude by presenting us with a signed All Black shirt from the competition.
Our fabulous PTA has had this shirt beautifully mounted, and it will now hang proudly in our Admin area. This treasured gift will be the first piece on our school’s Inspiration Wall. Our aim is to show PBS kids that with hard work, dedication, and excellence, they can achieve their dreams just like Dane did. Thank you Dane!
NB: We will be on the lookout for more pieces of inspiration to add to this wall as the years go by.
OLYMPICS LEARNING: PBS Kids are excited for the upcoming Olympics starting this Friday! Each class has been assigned a country to support and champion throughout the event. Their classroom inquiry learning will involve discovering more about their chosen country and creating an engaging window display. Some of the countries you will see represented around PBS include Canada, Japan, South Africa, The Netherlands, and many more. Even our office team is joining in the fun by supporting France.
Mā te wā,
Jess Ward

At PBS we champion our school C.R.E.S.T values in everything we do.
Curiosity. Respect. Excellence. Self Management. Teamwork
CREST value of TEAMWORK: We extend our heartfelt thanks to our community for supporting the Lukic family (former PBS family) whose house on Gray Ave caught fire during the term break. Special thanks go to the neighbouring school families who were able to assist on the night of the fire and have continued to help since. Our school families have kindly made contributions to PBS Aroha via the Kindo app, which we will pass on to the Lukics. Any additional donations received by PBS Aroha between now and the end of this week will also be given to the family. Thank you for your ongoing kindness and teamwork as a community.

Using Māori Language at Home
Learning another language provides many benefits including greater academic achievement, greater cognitive development, and more positive attitudes towards other languages and cultures. So, let’s give it a go and help to revitalise this unique language to Aotearoa for our tamariki. Each week our newsletter will include words or phrases that you might like to try out at your kāinga/home.

If your child is asked to remove any adornment or jewellery, please ensure it is taken off or your child will not be able to take to the court to play.
